These days we hear a lot of people complaining about various skin problems, one of which is acne. It is becoming a big problem because of many environmental factors as well as poor hygiene and diet. Sometimes it also occurs as a symptom or side effect due to some other disease in the body.
Acne is really a very big issue for teenagers as well especially for girls. When you are having pimples, you feel like an alien. You feel depressed and keep on messing with it which makes it even worse. So, you want to get rid of it.
How does it develop?
Acne is a skin disease that affects skin’s oil glands. The small pores on the skin connect to oil glands under the skin. These glands make an oily substance called sebum. The pores connect to the glands by a canal called a follicle. Inside the follicle, oil carries dead skin cells to the surface of the skin. A thin hair also grows through the follicle and out to the skin. When the follicle of skin glands clog up, a pimple grows. It is not a serious health threat, but it can cause scars.
Types of Pimples
There are many types of pimples. The most common types are:
Whiteheads
These are pimples that stay under the surface of the skin.
Blackheads
These pimples rise to the skin’s surface and look black. The black colour is not from dirt.
Papules
These are small pink bumps that can be tender.
Pustules
These pimples are red at the bottom and have pus on top.
Nodules
These are large, painful, solid pimples that are deep in the skin.
Cysts
These are deep, painful and pus-filled pimples and can cause scars.
What causes Acne?
- The hormone increase in teenage years. This can cause the oil glands to plug up more often.
- If it’s in your genes.
- Some types of medicine.
- Greasy makeup.
I’ve collected some really helpful natural remedies which can solve your problem.
Honey mask
- Mix two tablespoon of honey with three teaspoon of yogurt and apply it to your face.
- Allow it to set for 5-10 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Turmeric and Milk paste
- Mix one teaspoon of turmeric with one teaspoon of milk (or more to make a paste).
- Apply this paste evenly on the face.
- Wait for 20-30 minutes.
- Wash it off. It’ll leave a slight orange stain for a while which fades over the following days.
Wash your face with Cucumber juice.
Cucumber works as a good anti-inflammatory, reducing the swelling and redness of pimples on your face. Blend up some cucumbers or soak a chopped cucumber in water to make a cucumber juice. When you wash your face at night, rinse with this instead of regular water and pat dry.
Ice your Pimple.
Ice is often used to bring down swelling and redness on the body. Hold an ice cube and an ice pack over you pimple for 20-30 minutes. This will cause the pore to close up, which then causes the excess bacteria and dirt to drain out on its own. Further, it will lose its redness and size.If you’ll keep on touching your face, it spreads the bacteria and will result in more pimples. So, don’t touch it, be patient and start following these tips. Best of luck!
